Fat Facts Many people throughout the world consume too much fat in their diets Fat intake needs vary on age and weight Following a low fat diet can reduce the risk of heart disease

Good fats Healthy fats help give energy, prevent blood clotting, and reduce cholesterol and triglyceride levels. These fats which are called essential fatty acids (EFA’s) or Vitamin F, are found in cold-water fish and cold-temperature plans oils

Good fats cont… Monounsaturated fats also are healthy for the body They are found in olive, almond, and canola oils All of these are liquid at room temperature and generally come from plant seeds

Poly-Unsaturated Fats Poly unsaturated fats can decrease cholesterol levels, they can also decrease the percentage of healthy HDL cholesterol. They come from plant seeds and are liquid at room temperature Found in safflower oil and corn oil

Bad Fats - Saturated Fats Saturated fats and hydrogenated fats are unhealthy because they can clog arteries and elevate cholesterol levels. They are found in animal foods, such as butter, margarine, and meat.
