Joint Information Systems Committee 22/06/2016 | SRC Briefing | Slide 2 JISC 05/08 | focus Overview… Proposals are sought from institutions or consortia who wish to review their curriculum design processes, in particular how these are supported and informed by technology, in order to transform learning opportunities to address a specific challenge of strategic importance to the institution(s) involved Anticipated outcomes… Improved understanding at practitioner & senior management level of effective curriculum design Evidence of learners achieving their goals through participation in flexible, appropriate, well- designed and learner-led curricula across a range of discipline areas Enhanced curriculum design processes in place which support flexible delivery Enhanced institutional processes in place which support educational innovation Domain knowledge, reusable models of processes and practice, and user requirements for improved technical infrastructure The stimulation of positive and informed change in curriculum design processes in the sector Enhanced understanding of how the use of technology in the curriculum design process can lead to tangible benefits

Identify ‘vehicle’ for approving & deploying flexible, professional curricula that fits with GMSA XX Plan Establish infrastructure for pilots – tag curriculum with relevant skills, prototype electronic curriculum workflows, develop e-portfolio showcase scaffolding. Produce detailed plans for pilots XX Pilot Trial automated XCRI course unit feeds from curriculum database. Conduct curriculum skills gap analysis for 4 target course areas. Trial electronic curriculum workflows for units created/reworked to close the gaps. Advertise new/reworked units for 2010 enrolment XXX X Evaluate Run stakeholder workshop to establish evaluation criteria Promote regular evaluation of outputs against intended outcomes XX Manage 2-tier project mgmt, control & communication structure - regular senior management involvement & strong community engagement XX X Embed Leverage senior mgmt commitment to embed curriculum skills audit & agile, professionally-oriented curriculum design XX Supporting Responsive Curricula: piloting agile, demand-led curriculum design processes that promote flexible delivery & enhance learner employability
