THE HISTORY OF RELAY How It All Began… 1985 Tacoma, Washington Dr. Gordy Klatt--one man--ran on a track for 24 hours to raise funds for the American Cancer Society and to honor his cancer patients The following year 220 participants formed 19 teams in the first “Relay For Life” event
