PARCC ITEM TYPES: EBSR Evidence Based Selected Response (EBSR) Combines traditional selected response questions with a second selected response question that asks students to show evidence from the text that supports the answer in the previous question. If Part A is correct but Part B is not, then the student will get half credit for the question. If Part A is incorrect but Part B is correct, the student will receive NO credit. 11

Paragraph 28: My heart was a frog leaping out of murky water into clear sunlight. I said, “Thanks!” and I ran for the door. Before I got out, though, I looked back at Mrs. Neville. 17. 17 PARCC TASKS TYPES: Narrative Task (60 Min) Students will read a fictional text. Then, they answer questions (EBSR & TECR) & write a story (PCR). Literary Analysis Task (75 Min) Students need to read complex text closely and interact with two texts of high literary value, rich in theme, symbolism, and literary devices. They will answer questions (EBSR & TECR) & compose an analytic essay (PCR). Research Simulation Task (90 Min) Students will analyze an informational topic presented through several articles or multi- media stimuli, the first text being an anchor text that introduces the topic. Students will engage with the texts by answering a series of questions and synthesizing information from multiple sources in order to write an analytic essay (PCR).
