2 2 Background All schools are accountable for ensuring that students stay in school and make progress towards meeting graduation or completion requirements To measure progress, it is essential to have accurate accounting of graduates, completers and dropouts

4 Dropouts List  No Show Dropouts: Students who finished 2013- 14 school year, were expected to return the following year, but did not return 2014-15  Leaver Dropouts: Students who exited between August 16, 2014 to August 15, 2015, and the state did not find a later enrollment 3

5 Dropouts List Continued…  Lost Transfers: Students who exited from August 16, 2014 to May 15, 2015 to attend another public school in California, but the state did not find a later enrollment 4

6 How to Download Dropouts List 1.After logging into EZ Access, choose the MiSiS application 2.School personnel with MiSiS role of Principal, AP, or Office Manager will be able to access the link, 2014-15 Dropouts 3.Click link to access dropout files 5

7 Verify the 2014-15 Dropouts List  School Personnel should download dropouts list and update records in MiSiS  Missing or incorrect information should be corrected in MiSiS  Enter the correct withdrawal type and withdrawal reason in MiSiS using the Withdrawal History screen under Enrollment  Students may be counted as a dropout due to a mismatch of Statewide Student Identifier (SSID) 6

8 Dropouts - Accountability  Data certification occurs during month of December but extension granted until March 18, 2016  Dropouts that are not recovered will count towards the school/LAUSD dropout rate 7

9 Resources  Reference Guide 6452.1: Graduates, Completers and Dropouts can be found under the “What’s New in Pupil Services” in the “Resources for Clearing 2014-15 Potential Dropouts” section  Helpful tips on clearing dropouts can also be found on the same page 8

10 Next Steps  Ensure that schools download the dropouts list  School staff should identify staff to recover dropouts (make phone calls or conduct home visits)  School staff should update records in MiSiS  Certification deadline is March 17, 2016
