Secondary Schools  They could be employed through a clinic or hospital in order to provide outreach care  1998 the American Medical Association (AMA) recommended “high Schools with athletic programs provide the services of a certified athletic trainer”  You can find athletic trainers in public and private schools

College and Universities  Some are hired to instruct courses and be an trainer for the Athletes  Larger institutions normally hire many Athletic trainers who are employed clinically and may not have any teaching responsibilities  These trainers typically work with individual athletic teams and athletes  Institutions with accredited athletic training programs will hire ATC’s to teach and supervise athletic training students

5. Professional Sports  Employment is often desired but few opportunities are available  These athletic trainers work year-round conducting off-season rehabilitation, conditioning and prevention programs

6. Sports Medicine Clinics  These trainers often work with a variety of healthcare providers and a diverse patient population  Roles vary from Rehabilitation, outreach care, marketing and promotion or special event medical coverage

7. Military  One of the fastest growing employment markets within athletic training  Roles vary from military sports, on/off base fitness and wellness, active duty healthcare or new recruit readiness

8. Industrial and Corporate  Often the trainers are hired to work with physicians and other healthcare providers  Roles vary from employee fitness, first responders and rehabilitation/reconditioning return to work programs

Health Clubs  Trainers use their knowledge in nutrition, injury prevention, rehabilitation and fitness and wellness programs for clients Performing Arts  Trainers work to ensure proper conditioning, flexibility and rehabilitation  Radio City Rockettes, Blue Man Group and Cirque du Soleil all employ ATC’s

10. Olympic Sports  USA Olympic Committee employs approximately 25 full-time Athletic Trainers in the various OTC’s  They provide care to various teams in international competition  These positions are largely volunteer, but provide memorable experiences
