B O N N E V I L L E P O W E R A D M I N I S T R A T I O N 2 Where has EE Central been? December 2010 – BPA contracted with Nexant for the second phase of EE Central January – February 2011 – Nexant and BPA staff collaborated to finalize requirements February 2011 – Nexant began to design EE Central March 2011 – Nexant developed Prototype 1 and provided a demo – To listen to the recording visit the BPA website: http://www.bpa.gov/Energy/N/PTR.cfm

B O N N E V I L L E P O W E R A D M I N I S T R A T I O N 3 Where is EE Central Going? March – April 2011 – Nexant will continue to build and demo prototypes May 2011 – EE Summit – EE Central demo Summer 2011 – Continued development and implementation of EE Central and User Acceptance Testing October 1, 2011 – EE Central goes live with core functionality October – December 2011 – implement advanced functionality

B O N N E V I L L E P O W E R A D M I N I S T R A T I O N 4 How can I get involved? What level of involvement? Low – periodically check BPA website http://www.bpa.gov/Energy/N/PTR.cfm Mid – Participate in demo sessions and provide feedback High– select group of BPA staff and external stakeholders to test the prototypes

B O N N E V I L L E P O W E R A D M I N I S T R A T I O N 5 What’s in a name? EE Central Taxonomy EE Central provided BPA and the RTF the opportunity to recreate how measures are structured and reported Taxonomy structure will be applied to the current measure table within the Procost workbook Goals: – Create a consistent structure for reporting  Sector, end use, measures – Create consistency in naming – Create consistency in how measures are shown in EE Central

B O N N E V I L L E P O W E R A D M I N I S T R A T I O N 6 EE Central Taxonomy Timeline November 2011 through now – BPA and Council staff collaborating to develop a consistent taxonomy Taxonomy team: – BPA  Carrie Nelson, Carrie Cobb, Danielle Gidding, Greg Piercy, Todd Amundson, Rasa Keanini, Grant Vincent – Council/RTF  Adam Hadley, Tom Eckman, Nora Miller

B O N N E V I L L E P O W E R A D M I N I S T R A T I O N 7 Developing the Taxonomy BPA and RTF staff first examined the current PTR measure structure – Current structure lacks business rules – Current structure lacks standardized naming conventions BPA started from the ground up to develop a more consistent measure structure – Developed new taxonomy that contains the attributes and savings of the current measure taxonomy, in a more organized and consistent manner. – Tested the current PTR measures in the new taxonomy – Template is structured so that concatenation of attributes will create a unique measure name

B O N N E V I L L E P O W E R A D M I N I S T R A T I O N 8 Current Taxonomy Fields  Measure Name  Building Type  Other 1  Other 2  Application  Delivering Mechanism  Location Inputs into the fields were interchangeable (open text fields), causing issues with the data

B O N N E V I L L E P O W E R A D M I N I S T R A T I O N 9 New Residential Taxonomy Input Fields

B O N N E V I L L E P O W E R A D M I N I S T R A T I O N 10 What the new taxonomy provides  Consistent structure of measure names  Predefined text for consistent naming  Business rules for creating measures  A foundation for more reliable data, easily “rolled up” for reporting  Consistency in measure names for end users to identify in EE Central

B O N N E V I L L E P O W E R A D M I N I S T R A T I O N 11 How does this affect the RTF and EE Central Users? For those who develop measures: – standardized format, order, concatenation, naming convention and business rules For people who report into EE Central – Measures will be easier to locate – Queries will be more user friendly and accurate – Roll up of measures will ensure data accuracy (account for bundled measures, program affiliation, etc.)

B O N N E V I L L E P O W E R A D M I N I S T R A T I O N 12 Questions? For more information contact Rasa Keanini: Phone: 503-230-3063 Email: rkeanini@bpa.gov
