Election Calendar Calendar Handout Major Dates: August 9, 2016 – Primary Election day November 8, 2016 – General Election day May 17 – 31 – Early filing period open August 2 - 16 – Late filing period open June 24 – Absentee voting opens for primary September 23 – Absentee voting opens for general

Legislative Changes 2015 Absentee voters can return their own ballot in person on election day until 3pm Absentee delivery by mail or package service is allowed on election day until 8pm Absentee ballots may be accepted if the provided number matches the AB application or voter record Individuals domiciled with a candidate cannot be an election judge where the candidate is on the ballot Cities may set alternate filing fee by charter provision authority with no limit, or by ordinance but with $ fee limit

Legislative and Rule Changes 2016 Elections emergency planning task force created Legislative session ends May 23 rd Expected Rule Changes: Voucher form may be revised Some absentee forms/instructions may be revised Veterans ID card can be used in combination for registration Ballot text to be printed in upper and lowercase Other small ballot format changes (such as font size) Updates to come – once these changes are final

Election Administrator Training To administer an election, clerks must complete election administration training course and remain certified Initial certification – 5 hours Biennial certification – 4 hours Training Certificates issued by county Materials will be available online for review
