1 Snippet: “Every election is determined by the people who show up” Larry J. Sabato, Pendulum Swing Guiding Questions: 1)Will you vote? 2)Why or why not? 3) What is one issue you would vote on?

2 Who to Vote For??? We vote using the PARTY System. Choose a party that fits your beliefs/ values. You do NOT vote for the Prime Minister, you vote for the leader of that party in your area. EX: If you want Justin Trudeau to win, you vote for the LIBERAL party leader in your area.

3 The Parties…. There are 4 MAIN parties in Canada. Anyone can start a party if they have enough money. Look at all these other parties!!parties

4 The Issues….. Taxes… Higher/ Lower The economy- Jobs, wages, buildings, the budget Refugees National Pharmacare (cheap prescriptions) The Environment and Many other things too!

16 Voting You will get a Voter’s Card if you're registered! You DON’T need it to vote, you need to bring your ID card or license.

17 Check Out the Mail 4 groups… Pick your own Each of you answer the questions :) Switch mail when you're done and hand in your questions!

18 Questions What party is the mail from? Is it a local leader or the Party leader? What is the message about? Is it a clear message? Is the message attacking someone else or is it describing a plan? What does it tell you about the party leader? Their personality? History? How does the message make you feel? Worried for Canada? Excited for the election? Confused? Angry? Do you agree or disagree? What else does the message tell you? Contact information? Interesting facts? What else would you like to see in the message? What doesn't it talk about that you want to know?
