Different Types Proper- Name used for an individual person, place, or organization. Common-Common nouns are words used to name general items rather than specific ones Compound-Compound nouns are words for people, animals, places, things, or ideas, made up of two or more words. (Bus stop, fireflies, toothpaste) Possessive- Noun with possession (Tree’s bark, Gym’s rules) Concrete-Things that you can experience through your five senses: sight, smell, hearing, taste, and touch (common or proper) Abstract-These are nouns that name things you cannot see, smell, taste, hear, or touch. They refer to emotions, ideas, concepts, tenets, beliefs, or your state of being(love or hate) Collective-)herd, jury, or clergy), that appears singular in formal shape but denotes a group of persons or objects.

Pronouns and Antecedents A word that stands in place of a noun. The word that a pronoun stands for is called the antecedent. The actor waved as he entered the room
