What is Plagiarism Plagiarism is the use of another’s original words or ideas as though they were your own:- –Using another persons words/media without appropriately identifying the source –Failing to put a quotation in quotation marks –Giving incorrect information about the source of a quotation Reference: www.plagiarism.org

What is Plagiarism Presenting another’s work, word-for-word, as his or her own Copying portions of a single source without alteration Attempting to disguise plagiarism by copying from different sources to make a sentence Paraphrasing from different sources then making the information fit together as original work

Preventing Plagiarism Learn appropriate citation –Put direct quotes in quotation and identify the source –Cite all facts that are not generally know or have been interpreted When making specific reference to another persons work When you use an idea that some else has expressed – Learn to analyze and interpret –Refrain from paraphrasing Reference: www.plagiarism.org
