Copyright Intellectual Property Ownership
6
The BIG questions ….. ( and what the world do they have to do with your MSR) 1.What does it mean when I own the copyright to my work? 2.What am I allowed to do with someone else’s work that they “own”? 3.What is the difference between plagiarism and copyright violation?
8
Considerations for limited access Planning to submit manuscript to journal for publication Working with industry on proprietary processes or potential patent development Working with faculty on projects that are not yet to be disclosed to the public
9
Public (Open) Access ***** Discoverable by search engines (e.g. Google) and visible to all
10
Penn State only ***** Audience limited to individuals who are able to sign-in with a valid PSU ID (defaults to Open Access after 2 years)
11
Restricted ***** Limited access to specifically assigned individuals (defaults to Open Access after 2 years)
12
Miscellaneous procedural details: Dr. Ropson’s staff will do the uploading process after you turn in your project and complete the archiving preference form Research data can be archived Suggest keywords for tagging your project to increase discoverability
