14 June 2001LHCb workshop at Bologna7 Use Cases and requirements Short term use case –Have taken our MC production system as vehicle for getting started –Written short document with basic requirements for job submission, file copying etc. Long term use case and requirements –These will be derived from our thinking on analysis model and GAUDI/GRID work –Need to write something by end June

14 June 2001LHCb workshop at Bologna8 Getting organised for the testbed Currently our GRID tests have been based on CERN and RAL (catalogue of problems with Globus) Intend to extend to Nikhef, Bologna,Lyon in first instance (later Oxford,Liverpool,Edinburgh..) It is vital we have real effort at each of these sites to work with Eric otherwise site should not participate –Eric will define tasks and effort required Software installation Running and monitoring tests Liaising with security arrangements

14 June 2001LHCb workshop at Bologna9 Test bed installation kits Products requiring root(system privileges) access –OS, compilers, Objectivity… –To be installed by WP6 CERN products installation kits –CLHEP, GEANT4, CERNLIB… –Kits provided by CERN / IT and installed by WP6 Experiment environment installation kits –Kits provided by experiment and installed by WP8 funded effort APPROVED

14 June 2001LHCb workshop at Bologna10 LHCb participation in the design This has been via WP8 reaction to ATF docs and questions (Eric and Frank) We need a considered reaction to the ATF document. E.g. a key issue is the GRID service view of our data e.g. files/objects –From now inputs to ATF should come from GAUDI/GRID effort, and from our view of analysis model WP8-10 is requesting setting up working relationships with the key middleware WPs in the prototyping stage –We need LHCb people to interface to middleware effort ? Find people from institutes participating to GRID tests
11
14 June 2001LHCb workshop at Bologna11 Organisation and Manpower Testbeds for GRID development –Find sites with guaranteed manpower to support effort –Don’t involve too many to start Links to ATF –From Gaudi/GRID and analysis model teams Links to middleware work packages –Find LHCb people from CERN +institutes participating in GRID Broaden production management
