Teacher Guide This lesson is designed to teach kids to ask a critical thinking question that you can’t just put into a search box to solve. To do that, we encourage them with smaller questions that search can help them answer. Make sure that you read the notes for each slide: they not only give you teaching tips but also provide answers and hints so you can help the kids if they are having trouble. Remember, you can always send feedback to the Bing in the Classroom team at BingInTheClassroom@Microsoft.com. You can learn more about the program at bing.com/classroom and follow the daily lessons on the Microsoft Educator Network. Why do we have a day to celebrate the importance of trees? © Ron Koeberer/Tandem Stills + Motion

Just one of the 24 parks in Sonoma County’s regional park system, Foothill Regional Park features stands of oak, madrone, and bay trees covering its gently rolling hills. The trees capture the imagination most any time of year, but they’re particularly easy to appreciate today, on Arbor Day. Multiuse trails wind 6.8 miles through the park, some of them open for horseback riding. But you’re just as likely to see cyclists rolling through the land that was once used by ranchers grazing their cattle. Visitors are rewarded with fine views from the tops of the hills, while three small lakes offer quiet spots to stop and relax. And after a day’s adventure in the park, remember you’re in wine country. Sonoma is home to some of California’s best vineyards, many of which offer food as well as drink. This is starting to sound like a really good weekend plan. Why do we have a day to celebrate the importance of trees?
