Plants have to survive a long dry season each year deciduous trees shed their leaves to cope Sunlight can then reach the ground, so the season that's bad for the trees is good for the forest floor generally less biodiversity here than in a rainforest, ground- dwellers in the resulting thick undergrowth. When conditions are dry animals go into a deep sleep called estivation.
4
The natural recycling of leaves from the trees help to keep the soil good and rich.
5
Temperatures are high all year but there is a better developed dry season than the tropical rain forest. Evapotranspiration exceeds precipitation for enough of the year to have a significant effect on the vegetation.
6
Across the globe people have converted a great deal of tropical dry forest for farming and ranching. Most trees are deciduous which means they loose their leaves an stop photosynthesis during part of the year. Thick bark on the tree protects from fires. Animals migrate to areas where water is plentiful. It rains heavily during the wet seasons.
