Delayed Action Delayed actions are those where the foot is placed without weight and it is transferred later. Delayed actions can be danced with a straight knee or a bent knee. Delayed actions danced with straight knees are always used when a turn is made in the opposite directions as the foot making the step. Conversely, Delayed actions danced with bent knee are always used when a turn is made in the same direction as the foot making the step. In a delayed action with straight knee the foot should be positioned without weight (prepared) and the weight should be transferred later. In a delayed action with bent knee the foot should be positioned with pressure (prepared) and the weight should be transferred as the next step is taken. Delayed actions are used to increase body speed, improve rhythmical interpretations and create pleasing aesthetic lines, especially of the legs and feet.
