3. Put to death v5-7 V5 - Twin evils of sexual sin and greed – the sins of counterfeit and false love. V6-7 – both these sins provoke the wrath of God! Rid yourselves v8-11 V8-9a – evil attitudes and speech – the ‘wee sins’. V9b-11 – no place for such sins in the ‘new self’.

4. Clothe yourselves v12-14 Compassion – sympathy and tenderness of heart. Kindness – mellow and not harsh. Humility – absence of self exaltation and pride. Gentleness – strength under control. Patience – long suffering in the face of insult. V13 – the beautiful results - ‘bear with each other and forgive’ V14 – the ultimate garment – ‘put on love’.
