Miami and Fort Lauderdale Urban Areas 7 Mission: Increase preparedness, prevention, protection, response, and recovery capabilities within the Urban Areas and the southeast Florida Region for all hazards, including terrorism. Miami and Fort Lauderdale Urban Areas 8 The South Florida Urban Homeland Security Strategy is based upon the 37 Targeted Capabilities List (TCL) identified within the National Response Framework (NRF, July 2007). Southeast Florida Urban Area Security Initiative Regional Domestic Security Task Force

Miami and Fort Lauderdale Urban Areas 9 These Targeted Capabilities are prioritized based on risk and capabilities assessments. The prioritization as determined by the IPC will address this need. Southeast Florida Urban Area Security Initiative Regional Domestic Security Task Force

How to synchronize the strategy with activities taking place under grants and locally funded programs? Southeast Florida Urban Area Security Initiative Regional Domestic Security Task Force

Miami and Fort Lauderdale Urban Areas 11 Based on this prioritization, implementation steps are identified under each TCL and linked to regional initiatives intended to enhance the preparedness and response capabilities of the Miami and Fort Lauderdale metropolitan areas either by: Southeast Florida Urban Area Security Initiative Regional Domestic Security Task Force

Miami and Fort Lauderdale Urban Areas 12 1. Current, proposed, or future funding to enhance a capability or capacity needed within the jurisdictions or the region; or, Southeast Florida Urban Area Security Initiative Regional Domestic Security Task Force

By reference to existing capability where no enhancement is required or currently planned, but access to those capabilities is needed to fulfill the full range of preparedness, prevention, protection, and response and recovery actions for incidents of all types.
