Organizations + Campaigns for Change Amnesty International’s global campaign to stop violence against women was launched on International Women’s Day in March 2004.

Organizations + Campaigns for Change The campaign focuses on identifying and exposing acts of violence in the home, and in conflict and post conflict situations globally.

Organizations + Campaigns for Change It calls on governments, communities and individuals to take action to prevent such acts and provide redress.

Organizations + Campaigns for Change Resolution 54/134 of 17 December 1999, the UN General Assembly designated 25 November as the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.

Organizations + Campaigns for Change The UN invited governments, international organizations and NGOs to organize activities designated to raise public awareness of the problem on that day.

Organizations + Campaigns for Change Women's activists have marked 25 November as a day against violence since 1981.

Organizations + Campaigns for Change In Canada we have 16 Days of Action Against Gender Violence which begins on November 25 (International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women) and ends on December 10 (International Human Rights Day).

Organizations + Campaigns for Change Within these 16 days, on December 6, we have the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women + Girls (The commemoration of the Montreal Massacre/White Ribbon Day).

Organizations + Campaigns for Change The program will break the silence surrounding violence against women and girls by providing tools, language and practical ideas about how to be more than a bystander, how to speak up and how to communicate that violence and abuse is not acceptable.
