Linking Verbs Definition: they link the subject of the sentence with a word that tells more about it Examples: The old man appeared angry. The rock band sounded loud.

Subject Complements Definition: a noun, pronoun, or adjective that follows a linking verb that expresses a complete thought Examples: The Mexican food tastes bad. John’s favorite sports are basketball and football.

Predicate Nominative Definition: a subject complement that is a noun or pronoun, that identifies or renames the subject Examples: The Apple laptop was his. At the end of the tournament, AJ Nash was the leader.
