By Nov. 1942 Hitler had reached as far into the Soviet Union at Moscow and Stalingrad This is where Stalin decided to take a stand Battle of Stalingrad is a turning point in the war – it marks the end of German advance into the Soviet Union By January 1943 the Germans had run out of supplies and were forced to surrender and retreat

General Eisenhower and the US forces land in Northern Africa in late 1942 to assist the British in repelling the German advance By May 1943 the German Afrika Korps had fully surrendered The Allies attention turned to Italy

Invasion begins on the Island of Sicily Once Sicily is taken the move to the mainland of Italy The Allies are assisted by 50,000 anti- Mussolini Italians In June of 1944 the Capitol city of Rome is take back from the Germans
