Noun Cases The Nominative Case 1. The subject of a sentences is in the nominative case. The subject is the noun that performs the action of the verb in a sentence. 2. The predicate nominative of a sentence is in the nominative case. The predicate nominative is a noun that is equal to the subject and joined to it by a linking verb.

Noun Cases The Genitive Case 1. The genitive case is used to indicate possession or ownership. Genitive nouns must be translated with “of”.

Noun Cases The Accusative Case 1. The direct object of a sentence is in the accusative case. The direct object is a noun that directly receives the action of a verb in a sentence. 2. The object of an accusative preposition is in the accusative case.
