2. S.A. Bodeen
Stephanie Stuve-Bodeen, or S.A. Bodeen, is an award winning teen/young adult author who has written several books, including The Compound, The Gardner, and The Raft. She also writes the Elizebiti series, and is most well known for the hit book The Compound.

3. The Compound – Summary Part I
Eli and his family are living their otherwise normal lives in Seattle when the unthinkable happens. A thermonuclear weapon is launched into the city, and they have only 40 minutes to prepare for doomsday. Headed for the $40bil compound built for them by their billionaire father Rex, they are about to live out the high life underground while the world is suffering a nuclear winter (or so they think). Surrounded by all exact copies of all of their possessions, they are forced by the lock to live underground for at least 15 years. The only connection Rex gives the rest of the Yanakakis family to the outside world is a single piece of news about the condition of Earth outside.

4. The Compound – Summary Part II
Through the years, the seemingly endless food supply became so depleted that food had to be strictly rationed to a meal a day. When they run totally out, times get desperate and they begin to attempt to raise animals in order to feed themselves. With a lack of room and no animals to raise, they arise to the idea of cannibalism, they dismissed it immediately as a radical emergency-only alternative.
Again, they begin to run out of clean air and water as well. Times are becoming very tight in the compound.

5. THE COMPOUND – SUMMARY PART III
At last, after some tough times, Eli’s dad begins to have mysterious medical symptoms such as passing out and going on uncontrollable rants. This eventually leads to Eli taking his dad’s computer (the only with internet). He logs back into his chat program, and sees his long lost brother Eddy is online. After an exchange of heated words, he is able to deduce that there was no nuclear war. It was a great conspiracy. His dad had some reason to do this; lock them all underground for 15 years. Confronting his dad with this, he became volatile and insane. In a last ditch effort to escape the compound with his family, he gave his dad a high dose of Morphine, and then it was on. Using the only key to open the 15 year lock on the door, he opened the door, and they were free at last! After 8 years of lockup, they were free. Dad was reprimanded by the family, and was turned in to the CIA. And they al lived happily ever after, in a non nuked world.
