1 Warm Up T/F: All stress is good stress and has no negative effect on our body. Describe an approach-avoidance situation.

2 Children and Stress http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mfr6Yxn17Vs Read through the article and figure out what connections can be made between children, stress, and their childhood experiences. Once you have read- you are to write a letter to young you! What would you want young you to know? How would you allow young you to learn to deal with stress as a child? What past situations can you think of that would handle differently if you could?

7 Page 438-442 1. How does going to college stimulate change? 2. How do students cope with these changes? 3. What are the factors that contribute to job satisfaction? Which do you find are personally most satisfying to you? Why? 4. Define comparable worth. How does this create a gap? The textbook was published in 2008- do you think this is still a problem in today’s society? Why or why not? 5. #5 on page 442

8 Stress in YOUR life! On the sheet of paper provided… Please write down and explain the two most stressful aspects of your life currently. What are they? Why do they produce so much stress? When directed, crumble up your paper and GENTLY toss to the front of the room.

9 Stress in YOUR life! Go pick up a “snowball” which hopefully is not your own! Analyze the individuals top 2 stressors and respond back telling them how they can cope with this stress and any strategies which you have. Lastly- return the snowball to the individual, Explaining your suggestions for dealing with stress

10 Class Survey! You are to create 10 questions to go around and survey 5 individuals in the class. 3 Questions- College/Stress 3 Questions- Autonomy/Stress 3 Questions- Work/Stress 1 Question- Other sources of stress (open) Once you have surveyed 5 individuals, please have a seat and analyze your results (Looking for similarities/differences in the answers) In 1-2 sentences, summarize your findings for each category.
