5. ◦ Baptised 26 th April 1564 in Stratford-upon-Avon (birth date unknown but traditionally observed on 23 rd April, St George’s day) ◦ Married Anne Hathaway ◦ Three children – Susanna and twins Hamnet and Judith ◦ Sadly Hamnet died at the age of 11 (of unknown causes) ◦ Legend has it he fled to London to escape prosecution for deer poaching (which means illegal hunting and killing deer) ◦ In London he became famous for his writing ◦ He retired to his home town in 1613 at age 49 ◦ He died 23 rd April 1616 aged 52
