NetSupport is a program that allows teachers to manage and view computers in the classroom. Additional functionality includes: ◦ Login and logout. ◦ View and work on individual student screens. ◦ Send documents to a student or a group of students. ◦ Receive documents from a student or a group of students. 4

All students should eventually have a CLC username and password. Teachers will determine when they will complete login training during the semester. The following classes are required to have all students obtain their login: ◦ VST ◦ ESL Level 5 ◦ GED 5

Grayslake ◦ Signal is sent to computers in Building 4 to: Turn computers on at 6:00 am Turn computers off at 10:30 pm ◦ Make sure that students logout. Lakeshore and Southlake ◦ Computers may or may not be on when entering the lab. If computers are off, then manually power them on. Make sure to have the students logout. ◦ Signal will be sent to computer labs to shut down the computers. 6

Double-click the NetSupport School icon, OR (if there is no icon) Click the Start menu, choose All Programs, click NetSupport School, click NetSupport School Tutor Console. 7

A window will display while the computers are being located by NetSupport. It may take several seconds for NetSupport to connect with all of the computers. Select the computers to login. ◦ Computers are numbered starting with #2 in the front row of each classroom. ◦ You may login only as many as you need, but will want to have students sitting consecutively. 10

To select one computer, click on the icon of that computer. The computer that was selected is shown highlighted in blue. 11

To select multiple computers, click the first computer. Then click the last computer in the series while holding the shift key. All of the computers are highlighted in blue. 12

Once the computers are selected, click Manage on the toolbar. A dropdown menu will appear. ◦ Select Login. 13

A login screen will appear. Enter ACEStudent in the Username field. Enter Password1 in the Password field. Enter STU in the Domain field. Click Login. It may take a minute for the computers to login. 14

You will now see the computers are logged in as ACEStudent. Now click Close on the Login Box. 15

If you have students who already have a login, they will login as themselves. ◦ You will see the student’s username on your screen. For example: 16

1. Click the computer to be viewed. 2. Click View Client.* *You may also double click the computer icon. 17

The student screen will now display on your monitor. You will now have shared control over the mouse and screen. You may choose to help the student from your computer. 18

Select the computers to send files to ◦ by clicking and using the Ctrl key to select random computers. ◦ by clicking and using the shift key to select a group of computers. Click the Send/Collect icon on the toolbar. Select Send Work. 19

Click Browse to locate the document that you want to send. 20

Locate your document and double click it. ◦ It will now show in the window next to the browse button. Select the Location to Send To and click Desktop. 21

NetSupport will try to send the item to all computers, so you will see an error message. ◦ Click OK to get through all computers until you are no longer prompted. ◦ All selected student computers will now have the file sent. 22

Select the computers that you will collect work from. You will collect work by selecting Collect Work under the Send/Collect Work button on the toolbar. Type the exact file name including the extension. Select the Desktop. Select the folder you want to send it to. 23

If you collect to your desktop, you will find the files on the desktop. *************************************** Note: The collection process only works well for students who have logged themselves in. 24

Select the computers that you will logout. Click Manage on the toolbar. Select Logout. Click YES to logout selected students. ************************************************ Remember to: close out of NetSupport before logging yourself out of the instructor computer. log yourself out of the instructor computer. 25

Reminder: Teachers will provide their classes with login training and will decide when to do it during the semester. Login training support and login supplies are available upon request through the Login Training/Supplies Request Form. ◦ Send to Kim Lunt or Margarita Sandoval.
