The World of a Personal Trainer Personal Health 101

Introduction Keeping a healthy lifestyle is important for a person’s physical and mental state. The muscular system is a crucial part of your body, enabling it to have mobility and strength. People from all ages go to work out at their local gym and want to be fit and healthy. It is a great way to maintain body weight, gain muscle tissue, and improve your cardiovascular health.

Objective For this assignment, you will become a personal trainer at Body Building Central, one of the most popular gyms in the country. You will design a personal training program for each person that gets a membership at Body Building Central. Research workout programs for different age groups and match each character with a workout program suited for their age. Be sure to research each group of muscles each person would like to improve. (For example, Tim wants to improve his upper body strength) Also, each individual workout must have at least 6 muscles being worked.

Resources for each muscle group http://www.innerbody.com/anatomy/muscular/upper-torso-male http://www.innerbody.com/anatomy/muscular/leg-foot http://www.betterhealth.vic.gov.au/bhcv2/bhcarticles.nsf/pages/abdominal_mus cles http://www.betterhealth.vic.gov.au/bhcv2/bhcarticles.nsf/pages/abdominal_mus cles http://www.spine-health.com/conditions/spine-anatomy/back-muscles-and-low- back-pain http://www.spine-health.com/conditions/spine-anatomy/back-muscles-and-low- back-pain http://www.healthline.com/human-body-maps/arm-muscles

Evaluation For each person you are given as a client, they will give you a specific muscle group that they want to improve. You will then use your resources given to find out about that muscle group, and write a one paragraph letter to your client telling them about yourself and what muscles they will have improved by the end of their session with you. Include at LEAST 6 muscles being worked during the duration of their workout. You will be graded on if the muscles match up with the client’s preference of workout and the format of the letter that you write to your client.

The Question is, can YOU make their lives better?

Robert Smith Robert is the CEO of a successful company that sells vacuums. His job requires him to walk up a lot of stairs during the day, so he wants a lower body workout. He wants his legs to be stronger so it isn’t so hard to walk up all those stairs every day.

Sara Evergreen Sara is a stay at home mom that works hard to take care of her kids and her husband every day. But she feels like she doesn’t get a lot of physical activity during her days, so she thinks that an abdominal workout routine will keep her looking slim.

Elijah Turner Elijah is a young man hoping to become his high school’s football star some day. He is in junior high right now, so he wants to get as big and strong as possible in his upper body for when he starts playing high school football. He is already very fast for his age, so he wants his upper body to be as strong as possible to fulfill his dream.

Congratulations!!! You have successfully obtained your first clients of your personal training career! Their lives will be changed for the better with healthier muscles and healthier lifestyles!
