Erasmus+ is the European Union programme for education, training, youth and sport. It runs for seven years, from 2014 to 2020 It provides funding to send and receive students and staff from our European partners In 2015 a new action was introduced that enables us to apply for funding for mobility with partner institutions beyond Europe – known as International Credit Mobility Erasmus+ overview
5
ICM supports European Higher Education Institutions(HEIs) to co-operate and exchange students and staff with the wider world, outside Europe Similar activities as the core Erasmus+ programme - offers exciting opportunities for student study, staff teaching and training Similar benefits in terms of grant funding Do not need an already-established partnership with an overseas HEI in order to apply ICM funds both incoming and outgoing students and staff and provides a contribution to administrative costs (organisational support) ICM Overview

“We were aware that there would be fierce competition for some countries, especially where funding was limited, but wanted to make an application that did not only include traditional destinations for staff and student mobility, but that also embraced new opportunities and focussed our time and resource on countries where staff and students are less able to spend time overseas due to the costs of travelling to a high cost country such as the UK.” Gail Armistead, Associate Director, International Office, the University of Nottingham Case study 1
17
"The funding will not only provide grants to Middlesex students and staff for study, teaching and training visits to partner universities, it will also allow Middlesex to welcome students and staff from these partners to the university to contribute new socio- cultural perspectives to enrich its research and teaching. We look forward to both the enhancement of the student experience that this will bring, as well as engagement with new fields of international research”. Dr Nosheen Rachel-Naseem, Erasmus and International Exchange Manager, Middlesex University Case study 2
