3 Reflections from March Administration Quality Control –Adhere to your scheduled time. CTC is expected to submit materials on assigned day & time. Contact your DWTC if a problem arises. –Ensure all pertinent bubbles are gridded on hand bubbled docs –On Precode answer documents, students are not to hand bubble demographic information unless it is incorrect. –When checking in answer documents from your test administrators, quality control items as you go –Bring all white boxes, rosters and seating charts to check in Review and refer to manuals, PowerPoints and meeting handouts before contacting us. Complete all testing and submit materials according to the critical deadlines Covering instructional materials during testing Student backpacks and purses are to be placed at the front of the room during testing.

10 Who Should Take May EOC Exams Any student that has not passed an EOC exam but passed the course for credit. Any student enrolled in a second semester course.

11 Senate Bill 149 – Individual Graduation Committees IGCs must be established for 11 th and 12 th grade students who have not passed two or fewer STAAR EOC assessments. The committee determines whether a student may qualify to graduate after considering additional information about the student’s academic performance and the completion of additional requirements recommended by the committee. ELL students eligible for the English I exemption still need to pass three EOCs to maintain eligibility for the English I provision.

20 All staff members must be trained by the Campus Testing Coordinator no later than Wednesday, April 27, 2016. All staff members must sign a State Testing Oath. Please verify receipt of all boxes and inventory all materials. All materials should be placed in locked storage. Reference Pages 17-23 Reference Page S13 TEST SECURITY

21 Serious Directly or indirectly assisting students. Anyone tampering with student responses. Discussing secure test content, student responses, or student performance. Duplicating or electronically capturing any confidential student test content. Procedural Ineligibility and IEP errors Improper accounting of secure materials. Not verifying that student responses are recorded on an answer sheet. Leaving classrooms unattended. Testing personnel not properly monitoring students during organized breaks. Students were not prevented from using electronic devices and shared test content. Allowing untrained staff members to enter testing rooms. Students were permitted to test beyond the allowed time. Students were not permitted to test during the allowable timeframe. Test administrators did not read verbatim from the STAAR EOC Manual. 23 Ways to Irregularities Never leave test material unsupervised. As soon as a student finishes testing, inspect answer document and if student did not bubble all answers say, “You have not recorded all of your answers on the answer document, please do so now.” Actively monitor students at all time, especially with the writing prompts. Ensure students understand there is not free time if they finish early. They may read a book when finished. Verbal/Written reminders of time remaining to ensure student has time to record answers or answer sheet. Review small group and sped rosters in advance.

37 Test Coordinator Responsibilities Create prior to your test coordinator training: Print the “needs to test” report to verify that no student was overlooked. Set the testing schedule for the campus. Verify classroom has been covered Prepare a plan for lunch for students that are testing. Report all irregularities to State and National Assessments.

39 Test Administrator Responsibilities Cover instruction displays no later than Friday, April 29, 2016. Complete training and read the 2016 test administrator manual. Ensure that all student information remains confidential. Administer assigned test in accordance to state and district policy. Ensure that all materials that are checked out remain secure at all times. Ensure electronic devices remain off while students are testing. Actively monitor students while they are testing. ACTIVE Monitoring: Ensure students remain seated during testing; Ensure there is no talking during testing lunch; Ensure students have no cell phones or other personal electronic devices. Have a plan in place for cell phones; Ensure students are marking their answers on their answer document; Ensure students are working only on the subject-area test being administered that day. The test administrator is consistently walking around the room to ensure all students are on target.

42 Preparing Non Scorables for Submission *brown boxes Ensure that all materials listed on the control form have been accounted for everyday. All materials should be boxed up for return to the Service Center as soon as testing has ended. Do not wait until the deadline to box materials for shipping. Booklets should be returned in numeric order. It is an irregularity to ship nonscorables late to the Service Center. Reference Page 37 Reference Page S59 ETS is counting EVERY answer document. 49 Assessment Window and Tested Subjects The STAAR Alternate 2 testing window is April 4 – 22, 2016. Districts may choose when to administer each subject and grade- level test within the window. The test will be administered in the following grades and subjects:

51 Return Test Materials to the Campus Coordinator Return nonscorable materials: STAAR Alternate 2 Scoring Document test booklets grouped by grade for grades 3–8 student test booklets grouped by course for EOC assessments secure Alternate 2 test administrator manuals photocopies of secure test materials, if used Pack STAAR Alternate 2 materials either by campus or by district. If packing by campus, be sure that all the materials for a single campus are grouped together and packed in the box before adding materials from another campus. Do not mix STAAR Alternate 2 materials with STAAR or TELPAS materials in the same shipment.
