6. I am a high school student who experienced homelessness after my mom became ill and could no longer work. I struggled with my academics while we lived in a family shelter. Eventually, we were referred to one of MCCH’s permanent housing programs. Living in a permanent home near my high school enabled me to focus on my academics, as well as participate in after school activities for the first time. In May 2015, I graduated high school and I am planning to join the Navy.
