Design for a New Optical Table of the Shintake Monitor Takashi Yamanaka The University of Tokyo ATF2 weekly meeting 2007/9/26

Motivations to Design a New Table 1. Widen the range of measurable beam size (for  y ) by Increasing number of the laser crossing angles 2. Stabilize the interference fringe position  by adding the fringe monitor 3. Increase the signal photons from the collision with electron beam by delivering the laser beam without losing its power

Drawing of the Table Incoming Laser Beam Laser Splitter 174 degree mode Focusing Lenses IP

1. Widen the measurable beam size Rotating Mirror Holders 174 degree mode 30 degree mode 8 degree mode 2 degree mode

Measurable Beam Size horizontal axis : electron beam size vertical axis : required measurement resolution 174 degree 30 degree 2 degree 8 degree

2. Stabilize the interference position IP Microscope Lens Linear Image Sensor 30 degree mode

Mechanism of Fringe Monitor Magnify the laser beam with microscope lens Calculate the phase from image sensor data using Fourier transform

174 degree mode Delay Line First Fringe Monitor Second Fringe Monitor

3. Increase the signal photons Final Focusing Lenses Rotating Mirror Holders

Horizontal Beam Size Measurement Laser Expander Focusing Lens Laser Dump Motorized Scanning Mirror

Next Tasks Design has almost done -> Test of optics  Basic tests have finished  Detailed tasks are remained Forming the interference fringe in a new optics arrangement Considering the alignment strategy

Schedule Oct. 2007Tests of optics Purchase necessary optics ~Oct. 31, 2007Settle a optical table design Feb. 2008 ~Install to ATF2 Tests before beam
