Principal Security Advisor’s Office Assuring Security and Resilience across DE&S and Industry

Role Providing DE&S CEO and the DE&S Board with appropriate advice and assurance to support their responsibilities in security and resilience. Setting the strategic direction of the security function across DE&S through business aligned policies or guidance and overseeing their implementation. Providing security systems in DE&S that are consistent with Departmental policy and industry standards and proportionate to business and operational risk. Delivering Industry Security Services to Defence, Industry and OGDs, including provision of the International Visits Control Office and acting as the Competent Security Authority for Foreign National Security Agencies. Managing at Corporate level the relationship with the MDP & MGS for the delivery of effective and efficient guarding and policing. Providing appropriate advice to aid nuclear and conventional security duty holders in meeting their security risk management obligations. Representing DE&S interests to Director Business Resilience to aid in the development of effective and practical security policy. Providing advice, assurance, measurement and influence within the field of security. Conducting investigations into security breaches, lapses and losses across DE&S. The Principal Security Advisor’s Office consists of the following teams: Security Advice Centre (SAC); International Visits Control Office (IVCO); Education and Awareness; Governance (Including, Protective, Nuclear, Physical and Personnel); Assurance (Including, List X, DTCT, Universities Patent Agents and DE&S Establishments). Business Resilience & Continuity. DE&S PSyA International Visits Control Office Governance & Subject Matter Expertise Awareness & Education Security Advice Centre Assurance & Inspections Business Resilience & Continuity Functions Assuring Security and Resilience across DE&S and Industry

30+ DE&S Establishments; located throughout the UK. 1000+ List X Facilities; located throughout the UK (includes foreign nation contracted facilities). 100+ Defence Trade Cooperation Treaty Facilities; located throughout the UK (for import export arrangements with the United States). 10+ Universities; located throughout the UK. 40+ Patent Agents; located throughout the UK.
