Public Service Employees have: ◦ An inherently higher job security components than do private sector employees (Caldwell, 1978). ◦ Union involvement which now has more public employees in unions than ever before (Greenhouse, 2010). ◦ Job security which sometimes can be taken advantage of (Orozco, 2011)

Leadership that trusts employees. Employee empowerment provides a sense of achievement. Leadership must have a strong sense of professionalism and pride in the organization. Employee Involvement in the organizational decision making processes. Freedom from fear of reprisal *Remember: Culture cannot be changed in a day (Schein, 1992).

Ensure the morale and welfare of your public service employees! Provide them with Moral leadership (ethics vs. morals). Study the industry’s best (benchmarking). Before you can inspire others, you must inspire yourself
