Written in Italian instead of Latin Understood by the common man, underclass, and uneducated, not just the educated elite. Composed of 34 cantos, Italian for “I sing”. Written in terza rima: Interlocking three-line rhyme scheme (A-B-A; B- C-B; C-D-C; D-E-D; E-F-E; etc.) Each three-line scheme is called a tercet.
