5
WITH AND WITHOUT A NET Review Introduction
6
MODELING PARACHUTES As the coffee filter falls, Does the coffee filter speed up? Slow down? Have constant velocity? If so, when?
7
CLASS OBSERVATIONS: WITH MOTION DETECTORS
8
GOING TERMINAL Forces on the person determine the velocity of the person Forces are balanced – velocity is constant Forces are not balanced – velocity is changing
9
BUT I THOUGHT FORCES WERE ALWAYS EQUAL?!?!? Action – Reaction Pairs are always equal Every object has many Action – Reaction pairs acting on it at any time. So far, we have only examined action – reaction pairs
10
WHEN DO OBJECTS MOVE? Objects move when the forces acting ON the object are not equal. To learn about motion we only look at the forces ON the object (we ignore the forces caused by the object)
