An LGBTI community in Southern Africa which experiences no prejudice or discrimination, is free to express themselves and fully exercise their human rights without fear of hostility or rejection, in a community at large which is well-informed about LGBTI issues, and accepting of the LGBTI community Moving Safely by creating a safe environment for LGBTIs, enhancing the plurality of LGBTI organisations, influencing policy for the benefit of political change and facilitating public awareness Effective Work through capacity building, two-way learning, generating and sharing specific knowledge Purposeful Integration through the promotion of LGBTI-friendly projects in education, the police force, healthcare, media as well as the use of ICT in order to facilitate LGBTI activities Growing Bigger by further development of global and regional LGBTI networks and representation of LGBTI organizations on regional and global bodies Getting Stronger by coordination with like-minded donor organizations to increase effectiveness as well as stimulate cooperation between the LGBTI movement and other social movements Knowledge Increase by creating, sharing and applying knowledge for LGBTI development interventions in order to come up with new solutions that integrate different types of knowledge Hivos LOSA | 20133

© DiDiRi 2013 Improved Recognition of Sexual Rights and Health of the LGBTI Community in Southern Africa Capacity of stakeholders in the region is expanded to promote and implement LGBTI interventions An enabling environment for LGBTI rights including the provision of HIV and other health interventions is promoted and strengthened Organisational capacity of LGBTI-led CSOs to support implementation and lobby and advocate for human rights and access to medical services strengthened Health services provided to LGBTI at select sites in the region are improved

© DiDiRi 2013 Hivos Activities Developing and updating strategy to maximise the benefit to be derived from the regional linkages Conduct an on-going review and analysis of LGBTI studies to inform advocacy and knowledge sharing Contributes to the research component of the programme through sharing and collaboration on the collection of information, gap analyses and participation in the identification of possible areas for research Takes the lead on grant making in relation to the programme.
