10 What is There to See and Do? Galleria dell’Accademia The city's most important and prestigious art gallery features an impressive collection of Venetian paintings and works by such artists as Bellini, Titian and Mantegna. The collection of drawings includes 3143 pieces of singular importance, both for the exceptional quality of some sheets of great renown.

11 What is There to See and Do? Palazzo Ducale The Doge's Palace, Venice, has façades which date from 1309-1424, designed by Giovanni and Bartolomeo Buon. The palace, started in the ninth century, several times rebuilt, and completed in the Renaissance period, forms part of that great scheme of town-planning which was carried out through successive centuries.

12 What is There to See and Do? Peggy Guggenheim Collection The Peggy Guggenheim Collection is the most important museum in Italy for European and American art of the first half of the 20th century. It is located in Peggy Guggenheim's former home, Palazzo Venier dei Leoni, on the Grand Canal in Venice.

13 What is There to See and Do? Day Trip to Verona Take a trip to the home of Romeo and Juliet and enjoying this beautiful city with its famous amphitheatre. Verona is accessible by train or coach. t

14 What is There to See and Do? Vetario Art Museum (Murano) Visit this magnificent glass museum. The museum is within Palazzo Giustiniani and houses various collections of glass works describing the history of glass making in Venice. There is an archaeological collection and a modern glass section.

15 What is There to See and Do? Merletti School (Burano) The 14th-century Palazzo Rodotà houses a collection of laces from the late 19th century to the early 20th century, realized on the island, whose tradition in lace making dates back to the 15th century.

16 What is There to See and Do? Aqualandia Aqualandia (Lido de Jesolo, Venice) is a water and theme park, which has recently been elected best European Water Park. It mimics a real Caribbean Isle next to Venice, an oasis of entertainment of 80.000 square metres where relax, fun, extreme sports and water attractions are mixed together for every ages. Aqualandia has recently celebrated it’s 20 th anniversary.

17 What is There to See and Do? Guided sightseeing tour A guided tour of Venice on foot will offer the opportunity to see the main attractions around the area of St Mark’s Square. This will include St Mark’s Church and the Doge’s Palace. An experienced guide will give information on the history of the city and will be able to answer any questions you have on the city.

It is imperative that you advise students and parents on whether visas will be required. If you have any doubts, please contact the relevant embassy to check visa requirements, especially for non-British nationals. This could equally be relevant for British nationals dependent on the destination. 22 Travel Tips European Health Insurance Cards (EHIC) All NST tours are covered by travel insurance, but in addition all travellers should carry a European Health Insurance card. The new EHIC replaced the old E111 form in September 2005. Eligible group members will need to have the EHIC to benefit from the reciprocal health arrangements that have been established within the European Union and Switzerland. If required, card holders can receive medical treatment free of charge whilst on their visit, avoiding the need to claim back money from insurers. Children/wards are covered by a parent’s/guardian’s card. The card is valid for up to 5 years and there is no charge. Forms are available from Post Offices or on-line from www.dh.gov.uk/travellers.
