1 Cosmic Origins Spectrograph Monthly Status Review 19 June 2001 Charles D.(Tony) Keyes Page 1 of 10 Synopsis Role: STScI supports COS science operations by leading development of “front-end” (operations) and “back-end” (OPUS/MAST/calibration) ground system. COS project is led by NISD, and presently consists of 8 people (5.15 FTE) drawn from NISD, SISD, and ESS. The project is on track (green) –most recent report: 17 April 2001

3 Cosmic Origins Spectrograph Monthly Status Review 19 June 2001 Charles D.(Tony) Keyes Page 3 of 10 Accomplishments and Plans SI News: –FUV flight spare QE very good; detector FUV TV at CU completed successfully - lien on backup door-opening mechanism; –optical bench strengthening completed tests at Ball met specification (yellow last report, now green) –NUV grating reflectivity issue being worked - continues below spec Completed all NUV and FUV target acquisition exposure development (STScI scheduling system phase 3) on schedule –NUV imaging acquisition mode added to development and completed Revised plan and prioritized Phase 4 development Along with WFC3 participated in second operations status-and- dependencies meetings with Ball counterparts
