3 For Schools where CS is not offered 71% of teachers said it had been discontinued in 2014 (only 50% in 2012) lack of interest as a reason went up 63% budget lack went up 10% lack of qualified teachers went up 17%

Compared to 2014: - MTs care more about Ethics (22%) - MTs care more about Hardware (by 14%) - Security/Game Dev (down 4%) -IT Careers is up (from 23% to 46%) -0% of the MTs teach C++ -Alice/ Scratch more popular with MTs, Java more popular with other 2014 teachers

MTs are slightly more likely to have over capacity classes MTs are less likely to think greater interest in other classes is a problem MTs are less likely to think male-dominance is a problem MTs attribute it to lack of career knowledge/unaware of CS offerings MTs are more likely to think students don't see value in CS

20 Professional Elements With regards to Professional development: MTs are less likely to think it's insufficient training but more likely to complain about times offered. MTs also prefer college courses/seminars more than other 2014 teachers What certificates do you hold? Where are you certified to teach? Almost all MTs have APC but are less diverse in other certificates than the rest of 2014 teachers (similar to 2012 teachers). A much larger proportion of MTs are certified in CS than other 2014 teachers and more MTs are certified in Math than other 2014 teachers.

21 Experience MTs are usually 8-14 years teaching, 2014 general teachers usually have 15+ years. MTs have taught CS their whole career while some 2014 general teachers had switched 50% of MTs have worked in industry, only 30% of regular teachers 0 MTs were DB admins (40% of 2014 teachers) More MTs were software engineers Less were QA analysts
