Introduction The evolution of women’s rights and status throughout history of Canada. The factors why the men and women make different value in economics. Do man and woman make the same money for work of equal value? 1 Ontario has a legislation called Pay Equity Act to make sure that woman and men get paid equal money for equal work.( might be different but are equal valued). The Employment Standard Act (ESA) ensure that woman and men get equal pay for substantially the same job. The jobs don’t have to be identical neither interchangeable but are consider very similar to be of the same classification.

Do man and woman make the same money for work of equal value? 2 Reasons of why women are considered to have a lower income then man are: Woman don’t have as many opportunity as man to access to all types of trades. Religion, values, maternity, family, culture in fare in their jobs.

“Exceptions” Seniority system: pay rates is based in seniority. A merit system: pay rates based on a system that measures merit. A system that measures earnings by quantity and quality of production.

Pay Gap between woman and man. The global pay gap is about $4,000 on average between man and woman. The Canadian pay gap is just over $8,000 per year. Every $1.00 earned by men women earn $0.82.

Gender equality - A big problem. Before1921 , no female candidates in Parliament. Agnes McPhail - First female elected to government (1921).

After 1921,more women were as candidates and elected to government. Canada ranked 50 th in the world for women participation in politics (Female politicians account for 23% of the whole Canadian politicians).

No party has gender balance. Government goal: Achieving 30%female in government (2019).

Gender balance in our government. Prime minister Justin Trudeau chose his cabinet on November 4 th. Gender balanced 50% woman and 50% man (15 woman and 15 man add up to 30 members of the cabinet). (Diversity, Equality).

Conclusion In Canada Women’s rights has improved significantly science 1600’s. Women have a lot more equality in politics they could be leaders. Canada is a democratic constitutional monarchy (Queen). It is not enough we want equality!!!!!!!!!! It is not enough we want equality!!!!!!!!!!
