First-Year Engineering Program Preliminary Design Review Definition (see Project Description Document) The PDR demonstrates that the preliminary design meets all system requirements with acceptable risk and within the cost and schedule constraints and establishes the basis for proceeding with detailed design. The next three weeks will establish the system requirements and an established basis to continue with a detailed design through three performance tests The two AEV concepts will be tested and compared this week One concept will be selected based on results and discussed Need to plan ahead! Great for project management to see what is needed to be completed in Performance Tests 1 - 3

First-Year Engineering Program Objectives The following are typical objectives of a PDR: Ensure that all system requirements have been allocated and the flow down is adequate to verify system performance Show that the proposed design is expected to meet the functional and performance requirements Show sufficient maturity in the proposed design approach to proceed to final design
