Paper Guidelines Topic Persuasive – must take a stance on an issue Student choice with teacher advisement Minimum of 4 full pages of text – the works cited will be numbered, but not counted. Sources Minimum of five cited sources, emphasizing a variety of types as appropriate to the subject Books, Database, Internet, etc. MLA Format 10-12 point Times New Roman, 1” margins, double-spaced, title centered… “ The title is centered one inch from the top of the page with a double space between title and line of text.” We will go over this, don’t panic.

Book with One Author How will you CITE the source in your paper? As D. Tyler Sgrignoli states in his fabulous book, “because of the amount of human waste the cell phone can attract if used in such an environment, students should leave their cell phones behind when going to the bathroom in high school. No text message is worth that much risk” (Sgrignoli 82). Keep in mind that the reader MUST be able to link the IN-TEXT citation back to the WORKS CITED page.

Book with Multiple Authors How will you CITE the source in your paper? Drew and Sgrignoli make the claim in their book that in order to be awesome, you must live your life trying to make everyone’s job easier. If you can do this, life will be awesome (Drew and Sgrignoli 392).

What about A LOT of authors? Like more than three?

Books with more than 3 Authors Use the latin phrase “et al” (and others) to abbreviate the authors when there are more than three authors. How will it look on the Works Cited page: Guerin, Wilfred L., et al. A Handbook of Critical Approaches. New York: Oxford University Press, 1999. Print.

New York: Random, 1980. Print. How do you cite it in your paper? This is a sample sentence in your research paper (Fixx, Complete 82). This is another sample sentence in your paper (Fixx, Second 93).
