4 The Over Distended Keynote: Impact of Government Change on Respiratory Care Patrick Dunne, RRT, FAARC From the American Association for Respiratory Care Respiratory care professionals are under increasing pressure to adapt to the newer, patient-centric, performance-driving delivery of care model The Lecture reviewed the most important challenges and opportunities of this new care delivery paradigm and what it portends for all RTs, regardless of the practice settings. We, as students see there are many changes coming our way upon graduation!

5 Rapid Unresponsive Team (RUT) The Over Distended Mott graced the top 4! Quick 10 round double elimination quizzing Multiple categories including: – Pathophysiology – Name that Device – Calculate That! 1 st and 2 nd year MCC students Had a great time competing and learned so much. Sputum Bowl Support to the first and second year team from program director and clinical director Kathy Gurin and Dave Panzlau Joined by the program director from Monroe Community College Nick Prush

6 Second Year RCSS Class of 2016 They were receiving job offers! Maybe because they too looked so professional. Or was it because they were recognized as knowledgeable Mott Community College future graduates? I think THAT!

8 In Summary In Summary 1 st and 2 nd year students attended lectures over the two days of the seminar We had 5 teams that competed in the Sputum Bowl We had positive interactions with students from other respiratory programs The MSRC conference give us the opportunity to stay current on different legislative updates Attending the state conference also allows for potential employer interaction and furthering educational opportunities – there were job offers! The students provide written summaries to document their learning experiences assigned by the respiratory program director This is one step in developing the characteristics of a professional Respiratory Therapy Practitioner All attendees received certificate of attendance for their port folios
