U6U7U8 Skill / performance/ requirements Kicking Handball Ball handling/Bounce Making space Marking Listen to instructions Game sense Sportsmanship KICKING Teach technique using Audio Visual, stick figure hand outs, practical Hold drop Punt - The grip - The Release - Get ball to spin backwards HANDBALL >Overspin /Underspin Teach Technique - Ball firmly gripped and hit with clenched fist - Eyes on the ball, place thumb outside - Stance to the side to allow punching arm to swing freely - After contact with ball, fist remains on the platform hand BALL HANDLING - Roll ball around cones - Pick a stationery ball up - Bounce ball and catch it whilst standing still MAKING SPACE - Create a lead Calling for the ball MARKING Chest Mark - Keep eyes firmly on ball and line up body with flight of the ball - Fingers and hands are extended- palms up. Tuck elbows to side - The ball is taken on the hands and guided to chest - The Ball is hugged tightly to the chest. LISTEN TO INSTRUCTIONS - Ask to repeat simple instructions ie where is the game this week end?
