Do I need to join a club? What is your definition of being successful? Audacity to dream; ability to take actions to make dreams come true; self- adjustment for goal reaching or serendipity; creation of value for other people in the process. Can we learn to do these in class?

Do I need to join a club? The 80/20 principle. Multi-discipline in the modern world. More and more principle. They say you can’t do it because they can’t do it. You are NOT they!

How to choose a club? Start as early as possible! What is your goal? Learn something specific (English, music, sports, …). Build connections (intercollegiate and international organizations). Experience service learning (locally and internationally). Purely for fun.

How to choose a club? How much time you need to spend? Is the club well-organized? Bond with alumni. Chances of being a leader. Is there a role model? Can I quickly “fit in”? Out of your comfort zone! How many clubs? For how many years?

Tips for interviews Relation between your interested job and club experiences. Your achievements (with detailed numbers) as a leader/officer. Success and failure experiences. (The latter is even more important.) Establishing clubs > club leaders > club members. Bad grades or unpopular departments: club experience or enterprise competitions is a must! Sports teams: Japanese enterprise favorite Business school graduates must have club experiences

Elements of achieving success: MORAL Methods (techniques), observation (or opportunities), resources, attitude (focus and positive thinking), and luck. Attitude and methods can be learned! A powerful attitude to start with: There is always a way!

Know your outcome. (Can pilots fly airplanes without knowing the destination? How to choose your goal?) Get yourself to take actions by deciding to do so. Notice what you are getting from your actions. If what you are doing is not working, change your approach. (For how long would you try to let a baby learn how to walk? How come adults forget how we learned to walk and stop trying after 1 or 2 failures?) The Ultimate Success Formula:
