Get into a group of three - Pick a nation or a region: NATIONS: Canada Russia China Japan India Germany France United Kingdom United States REGIONS: The Rest of Europe Africa Latin America The Middle East South East Asia / Oceania

You are now accountable for your nation/region… You have to answer for their actions You are praised for their successes You have to rationalize their past actions – and explain how you feel about their history today. Think about your nation… Are you worried about your choice

You get points for: Positive actions taken by your nation/region Positive justification of the actions taken by your nation/region Improving diplomatic ties with other nations You lose points for: Negative actions taken by your nation/region Not being able to justify your actions Destroying diplomatic relationships THE RULES…

You ALL start with 1000 points You can gain a maximum of 100 points a day THE GOOD NEWS… You can LOSE a maximum of 100 points a day Other nations can vilify you and lose you points You could end up with a negative score THE BAD NEWS… NOTE: You can only lose a maximum of 100 points/per event (Germany can only lose points for the Holocaust once)

At the start of class (max 10 min), we will talk about current events. Depending on news events, you could be gaining or losing points… unless you can rationalize your actions In addition to this, there is: Roast & Toast Tuesday: Toast another country – you get 10 points, they could get up to 50 Roast another country – you lose 10, but they could possibly lose 50 Trial Thursdays Find historical dirt on a nation/region, and secretly let me know prior to Thursday. If your case is chosen, the other country could lose up to 100 points HOW IS IT PLAYED?
