Two Kinds of Rules from Wong General  More encompassing  May cover a range of behaviors  Offer flexibility because they cover a wide variety of behaviors  Must be explained thoroughly for students to understand them Specific  To the point  Cover one behavior  Clearly state the expected student behavior  Limited to no more than five  Teacher must know what behaviors are important to him or her.

4. Brainstorming Rules In two minutes, list every possible rule you can think of for your classroom, one per sticky note. Sort into general and specific rules. Identify 3 – 5 that you (as an individual) believe are the most important. Justify to a partner why these rules are the right ones for your classroom.
