2 Aim of the Module 1. To stress out the importance of a social network for ageing people with ID. 2. To give frontline staff more insight and tools to get into relation and into communication with an ageing person with ID and their social network. 3. The content of the module will help you to reflect on your job as a carer in order to optimize the specific care you give to ageing people with ID. 4.In general this module will advise you on: specific dynamics of getting older and ID, person centered care, working with the social network of the client, staff attitudes, communication in team, sustaining communication in relation to the client, self reflection and dealing with difficult situations.

11 Strenghts of the Module Accessibility The content of the module is accessible for different educational levels (basic). Demand Focus groups (ageing people with ID, family and carers) indicated a high demand to maintain and expand the social contacts. Applicability - Mapping the social network of the client is an individual and practical way to overview the social contacts and possibilities. It invites you to dialogue with the client and to create new initiatives. - A social action map is a way to focus on improving the social network of your client with the team.
