READ ONLY Looking at the food chain with the red arrow, the mouse is the primary consumer. However, looking at the food chain with the orange arrows, the mouse is the secondary consumer. So, depending on which food chain you are looking at, the label of which consumer it is (primary, secondary, or tertiary) can change.

10% Rule: Amount of energy at each level
When an organism eats, it obtains energy. It then uses most of energy for itself in forms of mechanical energy (energy of motion) in life processes like growth and movement. At each trophic (energy) level, 90% of the energy is USED as mechanical energy and some of which is lost as heat (when bonds are broken heat is released), and only 10% of the energy is PASSED to the next level. 0.01% 0.1% Draw and label this energy pyramid exactly as shown.
