What do Elephants eat ? What do Elephants eat ? b Elephants eat grass roots, fruit and bark. They eat 300 to 600 pounds each day. b They drink 50 gallons of water a day.

How do Elephants survive? How does it protect itself? b Elephants have no real natural enemies because they are such big and powerful adults. Elephants have some enemies, like lions and tigers. When danger is coming to the baby Elephants, they form in a tight circle with all the younger Elephants in the center. Then the adults will trumpet loud and thrust their ears out to the side like enormous pairs of wings. The Elephants appear so much bigger. The enemy may turn and run away.

How do they have babies ? How do they take care of them ? b Elephants have a baby every five years. Elephants are three feet tall when they are born. Baby elephants weigh over 200 pounds.

List two interesting facts. List two interesting facts. b Elephants sleep only two hours a day. An Elephant ‘s trunk has forty thousand muscles and tendons which makes it very strong and flexible.

Why are Elephants endangered ? Why are Elephants endangered ? b In Africa and Asia, Elephants are killed for their ivory tusks. An Elephant ‘ s tusk weighs one hundred pounds and can be sold for nearly 5,000 dollars. Killing Elephants is against the law. People who kill elephants are called poachers.
